Marriage
For those who have fallen in love, marriage is a natural
progression of your relationship. It is a traditional form of
committing yourself to just one person, which is viewed as
important to many cultures and religions. If you are planning
on joining with your partner in marriage, there are several
things to keep in mind.
Proposing to your partner can be stressful. Buying the right
ring and setting the perfect atmosphere for your efforts can be
stressful. As marriage is a serious step in life, and the
proposal being one of the first ones you take, it is no wonder
that you may be nervous! Do not be afraid to ask for help from
your partner's family and friends. They can help you make your
proposal as memorable and pleasant as possible.
Planning a wedding is an integral part of marriage.
Dependent on culture, much of the planning is handled by one
party, while the other pays for the costs of the wedding. In
many cases, it is the bride and her maids who handle the
planning of the ceremony, while the groom is the one who pays
for the arrangements. However, other cultures reverse this
role, with the bride's family paying for the costs of the
wedding and the groom's family handling the arrangements for
the ceremony.
Once the wedding has been done, the reception is over and
the guests have all left, your honeymoon begins. Regardless of
whether you are going on a long trip or staying at home, the
honeymoon is a special time for you and your spouse. If you
have never lived together before, this is the time where you
get to spend all of the time you want with your partner without
having to return home. You're expected and urged to have the
time of your life, as most people only have one chance to have
a honeymoon.
Once the honeymoon is over, the real challenge begins.
Marriage is work, requiring that two people merge their
different personalities into a union that works well for
everyone. If you succeed, you stay married and hopefully gain
happiness. If you fail, it may result in a divorce, which can
be painful for everyone in your family.
Marriage is a big commitment, and should be treated as such.
If you are ready to take the plunge and marry your significant
other, take the time to learn all you can about marriage as
well as its benefits and disadvantages.
