Most people think that a website can be developed in a matter of a few hours. The truth of the matter is that a good website design may take several days or even weeks for some to achieve. Web sites consist of more than a nice looking template and a few relevant articles. Thought and planning should be one of the first steps in website design. A person does not build a house without prior planning and a website should be no different.

The first item to consider for your website design is the niche market that the site will pertain to. Some research should be done to find a profitable and highly searched market to build your website design around. You can build the best looking web template and have good products to market, but with no search traffic it will all be for naught. So do your research up front to find the highest searched, lowest competitive market that you can find in a niche market of your choice.

The next item that you should consider is a domain name and hosting for your website design. Domain names serve as a kind of a store front for your website. The domain should tell visitors in a short and sweet manner what they can expect to find when the visit your site. There several sites on the Internet that you can visit to obtain information on selecting a good domain name. On the subject of hosting, it is my opinion that you should spend a little more money and get a good hosting service to host your website. If you choose a cheap hosting service, well let’s just say you get what you pay for.

Once you have a profitable niche market and a relevant domain name, it is now time to begin what most people deem as website design. Most people believe that website design means design of a website template. The truth is, as I said before, website design consists of several factors and the template is one of those factors. Anyway you can now begin to choose a template that will adorn your website. There are several ways that you can obtain a template for your website design.

1.) Most website hosting services offer free website builders as part of the hosting package. These can be used to develop your site but you will be limited to the templates that they offer and you will have to update your website design through a control panel that is a part of the hosting service.

2.)  You can find numerous sites on the Internet that offer free websites or free website templates. Most of these sites are not going to turn out to be free. You will be enticed into their site and find out that the fees for these free websites could develop into a fairly substantial sum of money. There is another downside to these sites in the same respect to updating your website design as the ones developed through your hosting service.

3.)  The third option, and in my opinion, the best option for developing the total website design is to purchase website design software. This option will afford you the abilities of being in complete control of your website design. There is website design software on the market today that has features that are so far advanced above the others. This software will allow you to manage and edit every facet of your website design from your own PC

Now that you have your website design done to this point it is time to include a few keyword-rich relevant articles. You can either write articles yourself or you can include private label rights articles on your site. I would suggest that, at first, you include 5 or 6 articles in your website design. If you do make use of PLR articles, you should change the articles a little to add some of your own content mixed in with the article. Other people purchase these articles and you will want to make sure that your article content is different than all the other articles that are published on the Web. You should also do some keyword research and determine some medium to long tail keyword phrases to include in your articles. These phrases will be the ones that searchers type into their browser to find your website. For example, if you were developing a website pertaining to pet supplies, perform a keyword search with pet supplies as your keyword and you will get some associated keyword phrases along with the number of searches for each phrase. Pick out 4 or 5 phrases that are relevant to your site that have good search numbers and include those terms in your articles. Just make sure that the terms are relevant to the articles that you include them in.

You can now determine a name for your website and the title of each of the article pages you wrote. Search engines will look at the title of the page and determine the relevancy to the website and the page content. The website name and page title will be combined by the search engines to form a kind of an index for that page. The combination of the two terms should not be longer than about 77 characters including spaces. Anything longer than this becomes truncated by the search engines and is not considered by most people to be search engine friendly.

You are now ready to publish your completed website design to the Web to be indexed by the search engines. There are some SEO tactics that should be done on the completed website after it has been published and that can be done while the site is in the process of indexing.
